The Man Show Season Two, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carolla, returns to DVD with a 6 disc collection of the 26 episodes that made up the hit show’s entire second season. The Man Show was one of Comedy Central’s most popular series before hosts Kimmel and Carolla decided to leave the show to pursue other opportunities. The Man Show continued to air with two new hosts, but was recently cancelled due to a large drop in popularity since the departure of the two originals. That said, The Man Show Season Two DVD collection contains hours of “the good old days” of The Man Show as Kimmel and Carolla have no shortage of ideas for humorous and entertaining bits tailored to a man’s sense of humor.

The Man Show will appeal to any man who has an appreciation for beer, food, laziness, and especially beautiful women. Kimmel and Carolla have a knack for coming up with hilarious bits and jokes that any man (or woman) who appreciates this type of humor will enjoy. On almost every episode of The Man Show you will you find a surplus of drinking, sexist humor, and ladies in revealing attire. The Man Show is definitely not for everyone, but if you enjoy the type of humor described you certainly won’t be disappointed.

The easiest way to get a better idea of what you should expect to see on an episode of The Man Show is to simply describe some of the skits and other humorous segments found throughout this DVD. There are two very important aspects of the show that are noticeable from the beginning of every episode. Beer and beautiful women. The two hosts along with everyone in the audience get a mug of beer for the show, and every episode opens with a dance by the “Juggies” dancer as they introduce Adam and Jimmy. The Juggies are Man Show dancers, appearing throughout every episode dancing in skimpy, revealing outfits with various props (such as in a hot tub). There are also two important things that occur at the end of each episode. The first is a toast chanted by the hosts and audience where they all pound their beers at the end. The second is the closing of the show, where the viewers are sent off with video of women jumping on trampolines. In between is where you will find the various skits, videos, and jokes that are the meat of The Man Show. Those that are most notable from the second season include the introduction of Aaron, “The Man Show Boy” (Aaron is a sixth grader with unbelievable sense of humor and lack of reservation. Aaron goes around town doing things such as dressing up as a boy scout and offers to help “old” ladies mostly around the age of 30 or so across the street to earn merit badges and loitering outside a beer store trying to convince someone to buy him beer), a tour of Snoop Dogg’s “Crib” by Adam and Jimmy, humorous “Man Show Inventions” and “Sex-O-Vations,” interviews of men attending a Cher concert and men using the urinal, a trip to a professional wrestling school, video skits of “The Monkey Bar” (where monkeys are dressed up and play out humorous skits with voice-overs), “Karl Malone on…” video clips, “Great Moments in Stupidity,” and last but not least “Hanukah with Goldberg.” These and many other skits and scenes are what make The Man Show Season Two such a humorous collection of episodes.

Complimenting the 26 episodes are 11 short videos found in the Bonus Material section of the sixth disc. None of these videos are extremely funny, but none are bad either. The first three videos are short “Karl Malone on…” clips. They are just like those seen sporadically throughout the episodes in the season where the pretend Karl Malone gives his “take” on various subjects. The next video is entitled “The Juggbournes” and features the Juggies dancers in a short parody on The Osbournes television show. The video is basically a short excuse for the Juggies to strip down to their underwear. The next two videos, entitled “Tobias Cats” and “What’s With the Attitude,” both feature Adam Carolla on the street stopping random people. In the first video he pretends to be a psychic who gets his information from two cats. In the second, he asks people on the street “what’s with the attitude?” and takes the conversation from there. These seem like videos that could have popped up at any point of a typical episode of The Man Show. I found “What’s With the Attitude” to be the most humorous video in the entire Bonus Materials section. The next four videos are very short and are referred to as “Man Show Miracles.” Each video simply makes a sarcastic joke about a man or woman doing something that the gender stereotypically doesn’t often do. Finally, the last video is a five minute clip of various women jumping on trampolines in rather revealing outfits. It should be noted that any nudity in this clip, as well as any that would be found in the episodes of the second season, is blurred out. Overall, the videos in the Bonus material section weren’t terrible, but they were brief and not very humorous. At very least, they seem good enough to be aired during an episode, but aren’t anything that you would be likely to remember. I give the Bonus Material section a C.

The Man Show Season Two is definitely not for everyone, but those who fall into the show’s intended audience will find many of the episodes extremely funny. If you’re the type of guy (or girl) who finds the humor and enjoyment in fart jokes, eating in excess, drinking beer, and especially looking at beautiful women, I’d definitely take a look at The Man Show Season Two (and season one as well!). Although the series definitely doesn’t appeal to everyone, I give it a B for it’s excellent job of entertaining those who it is intended for (like myself).
